The Cordillera Huayhuash: is one of the most spectacular mountain ranges in the Peruvian Andes. It was a region that attracted worldwide attention after Joe Simpson’s graphic presentation of his rise to Siula Grande in his book and movie «Touching the Void.» Our trip includes days the complete circuit crossing overpasses, all in the vicinity of 5000 m. As the Punta Cuyoc Pass and an ascent to the San Antonio Pass to have incredible views, every day it offers beautiful background views in constant change of very high peaks that include the characteristic spire like Jirishanca Peak and the impressive Yerupaja Summit at 6,640 m the second Peru’s highest mountain, at night, we will camp in quiet places next to glacial lakes and meadows in this incomparable corner of the Andes.

PROGRAM:
Day 1 Huaraz / Cuartelhuain (4,100 m) Cacanan Punta Pass (4,700 m) / Mitucocha (4,230 m)
Departure at 5:00 am. Pick up from your hotel and we will travel with our private transportation to the south of the city of Huaraz, passing through Recuay, Chiquian, Llamac and Pocpa, until we reach Cuartelhuain 4,100 m (5 hrs) from this point we will transport the equipment and food on donkeys. , we will begin to walk along a slightly steep path until we reach the Cacanan Punta pass 4,700 m then we will begin to descend until we reach our Janca camp 4,230 m (4/5 hrs of walking) (B, L, D)
Day 2 Mitucocha / Carhuac Pass (4,650 m) / Carhuacocha (4,138 m)
Very early we will begin the walk, appreciating the beautiful peaks of the Huayhuash mountain range of the Carhuac Pass 4,650 m then we will descend until we reach the camp in the Carhuacocha lagoon 4,138 m (4/5 hrs of walking) (B, L, D)
Day 3 Carhuacocha / Siula Pass (4,800 m) / Huayhuash (4,350 m)
We will continue with our walk, passing through impressive lagoons, such as Quesillococha, Siula and the beautiful mountains such as the Jirishanca Grande, Siula, Jurao, Carnicero and Trapezio. We will pass the Siula Pass 4,800 m and descend until we reach the Huayhuash camp 4,350 m (6/7 hrs. walk) (B, A, D)
Day 4 Huayhuash / Trapecio Pass (5,020 m) / Cuyocpampa (4,500 m)
After breakfast we will ascend until we cross the Trapecio pass 4,750 m from where we will appreciate the mountains of the Raura mountain range and the Viconga lagoon, then we will descend until we reach the Cuocpampa camp 4,500 m (5/6 hrs of walking) (B, L, D)
Day 5 Cuyocpampa / San Antonio Pass (5,020 m) / Cutatambo / Huayllapa / (3,600 m)
We will ascend to the San Antonio viewpoint (5,020 m) we will have an impressive view of the Huayhuash mountain range and then we will descend to the town of Huayllapa 3,600 m where there is a telephone and shops, a camp (6/7 hrs of walking) (B, L, D)
Day 6 Huayllapa / Tapush Pass (4,800 m) / Cashpapampa (4,450 m)
Very early we will continue with our trek ascending to the Tapush pass 4,800 m and then we will descend to the Cashpapampa camp 4,450 (4/5 hrs of walking) (B, L, D)
Day 7 Cashpapampa / Yaucha Pass (4,850 m) / Jahuacocha (4,100 m)
We will ascend to the Yaucha pass (4,850 m) and then we will continue to the miador where we will have a view of the snow-capped Yerupaja, the 2nd highest mountain in Peru and the Rondoy, Jirishanca chico and the Jahuacocha lagoons, then we will descend to the Jahuacocha camp 4,100 m (6/7 hrs. walking) (B, L, C)
Day 8 Jahuacocha / Llamac / Huaraz / Hotel
We will start walking very early passing the Punta Llamac pass 4,350 m and we will descend to the town of Llamac 3,300 m where our transportation will be waiting for us for our return to Huaraz (4 hrs of walking) (4 hrs of transportation) (B, L)

To validate your reservation you must deposit 30% of the total price as an initial payment per person. Once the deposit is confirmed, we will send you the ticket or contract. The remaining balance must be paid in Huaraz during your briefing at our office or at your hotel in cash before your trip. There is no refund if you cancel with less than 30 days.

Trekking Gear and Clothing List
Hiking Boots
Used waterproof Goretex (not harmful to your feet). Footwear is an important piece of gear on any mountain trip. Take proper care of your feet and you’ll have an amazing experience. Avoid cotton socks and bring different socks (liners, hiking socks, and thermal socks). Bring a pair of flip-flops or slippers to wear in towns and when you need to use the bathroom at night. Also, bring a pair of sports or camping shoes to wear at the tea house or hostel, as you’ll definitely want to take your boots off after a long day hike. For hiking boots, we recommend getting a full-length boot with ankle support and Gore-Tex lining.
Socks
Bring enough socks, both for inside and outside (2 pairs of wool and 2 pairs of cotton/nylon)
Hats and Caps
Bring your favorite hat to protect you from the sun, a wide brimmed hat is recommended, any style of hat will do.
To protect your neck bring 2 pairs of buff for the trek that is comfortable and is good for protecting you from dust. A warm hat is a must for the trek to the Santa Cruz trek. Bring a warm hat that is comfortable and also covers your ears, Sun hat/Balaclava.
Sunglasses
Very important to protect your eyes. Sunglasses with UV protection also called polarized.
Clothing for upper and lower body
Gore Tex jacket and pants, useful for keeping the heat inside, keeping the cold air outside and protecting from the cold breeze and rain if it happens. That is the outer layer. As a middle layer, you should have a fleece jacket or a light jacket. It is recommended to bring underwear for the lower body. Also a pair (or two pairs) of hiking pants and other necessary underwear. underwear depending on your needs and preferences. Some T-shirts. One or two long sleeved T-shirts for daytime hikes, a warm jacket for cold weather.
Underwear
We will be hiking 6-7 hours every day for 4 days straight and you need to make sure your underwear is comfortable and breathable. Bring breathable underwear and a women’s sports bra. Synthetic or wool underwear is recommended and avoid cotton.
Hands
A pair of warm gloves. An extra pair of simple lightweight gloves (as an extra).
Backpack (Daypack)
A 32-40 liter inner frame backpack will be perfect for the hike because you will only need to carry your valuable items, water, camera, sunscreen, snacks, first aid kit and an extra layer of fleece.
Travel Bag
On all our trips we provide a waterproof duffel bag to each participant to store their gear, this is where you will put your sleeping bag, other clothes and extra stuff, it is shared by 2 people who will be carried by the donkeys (porters).
Sleeping Bag
We recommend getting a -10 degrees Celsius rated sleeping bag for the trek, the nights are cold as you ascend. If you don’t have one you can rent one from our offices.
Water Bottle
Camel-pack (bag for running water) or regular plastic or metal water bottle.
Flashlight/Head Lamp
with an extra set of batteries
Personal First Aid Kit (insect repellent, Moleskine, Diomax, aspirin, Cipro, vitamins, basic wound care and personal medications if you have them (for high altitudes, diarrhea and cold etc.)

First Aid

For Huaraz
Bring extra clothes to wear in the city. You can leave these clothes in the luggage storage of the hotel or in our office. Changing clothes after a good shower is a great feeling.
